Families at Fadama receive support from Kevin Okyere Foundation

The Kevin Okyere Foundation (KOF), a non-governmental organization, has donated food items to 300 families and 100 individuals in the Fadama and Abeka communities at the forecourt opposite the residence of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, in Accra.

The donation formed part of the Foundation’s commemoration of World Food Day, which fell on Thursday, October 16, under the global theme “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future.”

Items presented to the predominantly female beneficiaries included rice, sugar, beans, sardines, salt, tomato paste, gari, bathing and washing soap, cocoa beverage, powdered milk, vegetable cooking oil, toothpaste, and sanitary pads.

Speaking at the ceremony before handing over the items, Kevin Okyere, Founder and Chairman of the Foundation, said:

“Today, through this outreach, we are reaching over 400 people — 300 families and 100 individuals — ensuring that at least for today, they will not have to worry about their next meal. But more importantly, this represents a bigger message — that in our shared humanity, we are only as strong as the compassion we show one another.”

He described this year’s theme as a call to unity and collaboration, emphasizing the need for collective effort to ensure that no one is left behind.

“That is why my Foundation is built on empathy and the belief that governments alone cannot meet every need. We see every day that many families still struggle with access to education, healthcare, and opportunity, and so we set for ourselves four key areas of focus — education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and humanitarian relief,” he added.

Mr. Okyere noted that through these pillars, the Foundation has quietly supported lives across Ghana by providing scholarships and materials that allow children to dream again.

“In healthcare, our impact runs deep. At the National Cardiothoracic Centre at Korle-Bu, our Foundation has funded dozens of life-saving surgeries, particularly for children born with heart defects whose families could not afford treatment,” he stated.

He further reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to working with state institutions, the private sector, and civil society to address the root causes of poverty and inequality rather than just their symptoms.

“We are not driven by numbers; we are driven by people. Every act of compassion, every hand extended, and every meal shared is a step toward the Ghana we all dream of,” he said.

The Executive Secretary at the Office of the National Chief Imam, Alhaji Osumanu Seidu, expressed appreciation for the gesture and urged the Foundation to consider future collaborations with development-oriented organizations to offer skills training for the youth in the communities.
