The Fairway Cares Foundation, the charitable arm of Rafimex Company Limited, has organised a Ramadan outreach programme providing meals and essential items to about 1,000 people at the Rasul Al Akram Mosque in Maamobi, Accra.

Director of the foundation, Francisca Esinam Adablah, said the initiative reflects the spirit of giving associated with Ramadan and the organisation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable members of society.

“We believe that as a community and as a charity, we have to help those who are vulnerable. Ramadan is the spirit of giving, so we decided to just feed a thousand people today,” she told Joy Business during the outreach.

According to her, the initiative forms part of a broader humanitarian effort by the foundation to support communities during the holy month.

She explained that the foundation has already distributed hundreds of meal packs across several communities, including Teshie and parts of Nima, before arriving at the Maamobi-Conca area.

“So far, we’ve given out about 600 boxes. We’ve been to Teshie Mosque, we’ve also been to Wasaid in Nima and another community in Nima, and now we are here at Conca Mosque. We hope that by the end of Ramadan, we will have given out a thousand boxes and fed a thousand people,” she added.

Chief Executive Officer of the Fairway Cares Foundation, Maya Ismail, also underscored the importance of giving back to the Ghanaian community, noting that the organisation’s philanthropic work is driven by a sense of gratitude and social responsibility.

“I live in Ghana. I’m Lebanese, but I have a Ghanaian passport, and Ghana has given me a lot, so I should give back as much as I can,” she said.

She added that supporting people in need is a shared value across religions.

“It’s in our religion — whether we are Christians, Muslims, whatever — we have to help people who are in need. Our mission is always to draw a smile on kids’ faces.”

Beyond the Ramadan outreach, Ms Ismail noted that the foundation undertakes other humanitarian initiatives, including supporting children battling cancer by helping to settle medical bills and carrying out renovation works in schools.

“We go every year and pay medical bills for kids who cannot afford cancer treatment. We also visit schools and support renovation works,” she said, adding that the foundation’s work is supported by contributions from customers, suppliers and members of the community.

The Imam of Mamobi-Conca, Sheikh Nuhu Issah Bandago, expressed gratitude to the foundation for the gesture and encouraged other organisations to emulate the initiative to support vulnerable communities.

The Fairway Cares Foundation says it will continue to expand its humanitarian activities across the country, particularly during periods such as Ramadan that emphasise compassion, charity and community support.
