Equity Health Insurance has rolled out a transformative healthcare initiative dubbed the NHIS Top-Up to upgrade the benefits of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), making premium healthcare more accessible to everyday Ghanaians.
The NHIS Top-Up allows subscribers to supplement their current NHIS plans with additional benefits, including faster care, affordable premiums, and expanded service options. The initiative was unveiled at Equity Health’s stand at the Madina Market from April 8 – 11, 2025.
Equity Health Insurance’s move aligns with its mission to deliver value-for-money healthcare solutions through a network of accredited hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies across Ghana.
Equity Health Insurance representatives were on-site to assist new subscribers in upgrading their NHIS packages and also educate subscribers to be abreast with the benefits of the Top-Up plan, register on the spot, and enjoy a seamless on-boarding experience.
Speaking during the activation, a representative from Equity Health Insurance emphasised the importance of extending health coverage to all segments of society. “Our mission is to bridge the gap between basic coverage and true healthcare access.”
Subscribers to Equity Health Insurance’s NHIS Top-Up stand to benefit from: Faster Care: Reduced waiting times at healthcare facilities, Affordable Premiums: Cost-effective plans tailored to individual needs, Expanded Benefits: Coverage for services not included in the standard NHIS package.
According to the CEO of Equity Health Insurance, Dr Elton Fredrick Afari, the initiative will expand to other major markets and communities in the coming months, urging people to visit their stand and sign up.
