Engineers & Planners (E&P), along with its subsidiary Azumah Resources Ghana Ltd, has signed a $37.5 million procurement agreement with Danish mining technology leader FLSmidth (FLS) to fast-track the development of the Black Volta and Sankofa gold concessions.
The contract covers a range of critical long-lead equipment including crushers, mills, processing systems, and technical support packages items that typically take up to a year to manufacture.
The arrangement is expected to significantly shorten E&P’s development timeline as it moves toward full-scale gold production.
Speaking to journalists after the signing ceremony, Noel Addo, Director of Azumah Resources, described the agreement as a strategic step to keep the project on schedule.
“These items will take close to forty-six weeks to manufacture, so we need to pay for them now while we continue sourcing other components. That is the essence of today’s ceremony. FLS is well known in the mining industry — their presence alone gives us significant leverage,” he said.
Alistair Mackay, FLS Vice President for Capital Sales in Europe, Arabia, and Africa, noted that the company is committed to providing advanced technology to improve efficiency and output.
“The signing today is focused on the long-lead items, which involve a substantial amount of equipment. We expect installation to begin early next year, with construction anticipated six months from now,” Mackay explained.
This procurement follows E&P’s $100 million settlement in October 2025 to fully acquire the Black Volta and Sankofa concessions from former foreign shareholders of Azumah Resources Ghana Ltd. The acquisition resolved months of ownership disputes and paved the way for accelerated project development.
Scope of the Agreement
Under the contract, FLS will supply an extensive suite of processing and mining equipment, including:
- Gyratory and Raptor cone crushers
- SAG and ball mills
- Pre-leach thickener
- Screens and apron feeders
- KREBS cyclones and pumps
- Absorption, desorption, refining, and detox systems
FLS will also provide engineering support, site installation, commissioning, training, and a performance guarantee for the processing plant.
Delivery is scheduled for 2026, ahead of the planned mine start-up in 2027, positioning E&P and Azumah Resources for rapid advancement toward gold production.
