The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has firmly denied reports suggesting a shortage of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) fuel in Ghana, assuring both the public and the aviation sector that there is currently no disruption in supply.
In a press statement released on Thursday, July 24, the Ministry stated that sufficient quantities of ATK are available for all aircraft operations across the country and urged the public to disregard what it described as “false reports” circulating in some quarters.
The Ministry attributed recent speculation to the temporary unavailability of the ATK jetty pipeline, which had been undergoing essential maintenance.
The works, described as “long overdue”, were necessary to protect the structural integrity of the pipeline and ensure Ghana’s long-term fuel security.

“To further ensure a stable supply,” the statement noted, “Ghana recently received an ATK vessel carrying 11,984 metric tonnes of fuel. Of this, 4,583 metric tonnes have already been successfully discharged to PWSL over the past two days.”
The remaining quantity is currently being offloaded to the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and the Ridge Depots via the TOR Jetty, with the full discharge expected to be completed by midday on Friday, 25th July 2025.
The Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Richard Gyan-Mensah (MP), has engaged with key players in the downstream petroleum sector as well as the Ghana Airport Company Limited to ensure smooth coordination and continued supply to the aviation industry.
“We reassure all stakeholders that there is no cause for alarm,” the Deputy Minister stated.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining energy security and transparency, adding that updates would be provided as necessary to keep the public fully informed.
