Empress Gifty dedicates 7 awards to President Mahama; calls for 30,000-seater auditorium for creative industry

Gospel musician Empress Gifty has dedicated the seven awards she won this year to President John Dramani Mahama, while appealing to him to build a large seating auditorium for Ghana’s creative arts industry.

The award-winning artiste, accompanied by her husband Mr Hopeson Adorye and her management team led by Edem Mensah-Tsotorme, paid a courtesy call on the President at the Jubilee House on Thursday, 9 October 2025.

Speaking during the visit, Empress Gifty said the meeting was to officially congratulate President Mahama, whom she described as a father figure, and to update him on the successes she has achieved in her music career under his guidance.

She expressed her gratitude to the President for his mentorship and promised to strive for greater accomplishments as she prepares to release a new song.

In dedicating her awards to the President, Empress Gifty also appealed for the construction of a 10,000 to 30,000-capacity auditorium to boost the creative sector’s ability to host major events. She explained that such a facility would enhance the industry’s growth and help position Ghana as a destination for international shows and conferences.

Additionally, she urged the President to ensure that the creative arts sector receives a substantial allocation in the national budget to support its development.

President Mahama, who referred to Empress Gifty as his daughter, thanked her and her team for the visit and commended her for her hard work and consistency. He encouraged her to continue pushing for excellence.

The President reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the creative industry and disclosed that designs and proposals for a national convention centre were currently under review. He noted that once funding is secured, the project would serve as a multipurpose venue capable of hosting various events throughout the year.

President Mahama further assured of his continued support for the creative arts sector and promised budgetary backing in the years ahead.
