Ghanaian vlogger Clement Asamoah, known for his work on Gossips 24 TV, has credited journalist Emma Morrison as the inspiration behind his journey into journalism.

Speaking on The Career Trail, aired on Joy Learning TV and JoyNews, he recounted how he struggled with choosing a career path in his early years.

“From Class 2, I wanted to be a navy officer, but I didn’t like washing clothes, and they always wore white. So I changed my mind and told my mother I wanted to be a lawyer. She replied that lawyers are buried face-down when they die—that ended it for me,” he said.

According to him, his turning point came in Class 5 when Emma Morrison visited his school. “The way she spoke and introduced herself as a journalist really struck me. From that day, I knew I wanted to be like her,” Clement recalled.

He said after the visit, he began acting as a class reporter, recounting events to teachers and school administrators. That early spark led to a growing passion for storytelling, which he nurtured in university by creating YouTube content from his dorm room and even while commuting.

Clement joined Gossips 24 TV as a writer, eventually transitioning into video work with support from his boss, now his business partner, who encouraged him to pursue vlogging full-time.

“After university, I decided to go all in,” he said. “We set up an office, hired staff, built a studio, and officially launched Gossips 24 TV.”

He noted that initially, the goal was to become Ghana’s version of TMZ with English content. However, realising they couldn’t compete with UK-based blogger Chris-Vincent due to limited resources, they rebranded in 2021 to Gossip 24 Avenue and switched to delivering content in Twi.

“We wanted to make trending stories accessible to everyone, so we focused on breaking things down in our local dialect,” he explained.

Despite early challenges, including staff turnover and media attacks, Clement and his partner remained committed. Today, Gossip 24 Avenue has amassed over 357,000 subscribers and has become a go-to YouTube channel for trending news delivered in the local dialect.

Reflecting on his journey, he encouraged aspiring journalists and content creators to stay consistent and find mentors who inspire them. “For me, that person was Emma Morrison. That one encounter changed everything.”
