The Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, has touted the efficacy of his outfit in registering voters, pointing out that Ghana’s voter population stands at approximately 18 million.

Dr. Quaicoe highlighted the significance of this achievement by noting, “That should tell you that the Electoral Commission has been very efficient in the sense that if you have a population of about 31 million and you have 18 million registered voters. If you compute that means we’ve captured more than 50 percent of the population.”

Comparing Ghana’s voter registration ratio to other countries in the sub region, Dr. Quaicoe added, “This shows that registered population ratio is very high, it is only in Cape Verde that has 56%. Nigeria is 44%, so this shows that Ghana’s EC has been very efficient in capturing a significant number of people.”

Ghana’s Electoral Commission has been widely recognized for its efforts in ensuring a robust and inclusive electoral system.

Dr. Quaicoe’s remarks in an interview on JoyNews’ PM Express reaffirm the Commission’s commitment to maintaining a high standard of efficiency in its voter registration process, further strengthening the foundation of Ghana’s democracy.

Speaking on accusations that the EC may disenfranchise people during the limited voter registration, Dr Quaicoe said after the completion of the exercise, no political party complained about the just-ended limited voter registration exercise when they met at the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Wednesday.

According to Dr Quaicoe, at the IPAC meeting on Wednesday, all the parties present admitted to a good job done.

“None of them complained; not a single one complained that we have disenfranchised anyone.” “Today, we made reference to those who are in court and they agreed that we have done a good job. Now they are concerned about the adjudication process,” he told JoyNews’ Evans Mensah.
