In a determined effort to accelerate infrastructural development in the Ekumfi Constituency, Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Othniel Ekow Kwainoe has embarked on an intensive inspection tour of key road resurfacing projects.
The initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the District Chief Executive (DCE), Ishmael Nana Asamoah, focused on critical transport corridors vital to economic activity and community mobility.
The inspection covered major stretches, including the Agyankwa–Owiya–Owufa road and the Srafa Koko–Srafa Aboano to Otuam.
These routes are in poor condition and have long been plagued, impeding the daily lives of commuters, farmers, and traders.
Dr Kwainoe emphasised that the exercise was not ceremonial but a hands-on initiative to ensure that contractors and engineers deliver quality work within set timelines.
“Our people have endured poor road infrastructure for far too long. These roads are lifelines for farmers, traders, schoolchildren, and health workers. We cannot speak of meaningful development without addressing them,” he stated.
The MP reaffirmed his commitment to improving the constituency’s socio-economic standing, describing the ongoing works as the beginning of a broader strategy to modernise rural connectivity. He noted that his vision for Ekumfi is anchored in long-term, sustainable development with dignity.
The DCE commended Dr Kwainoe’s relentless pursuit of development. He revealed that technical discussions are ongoing between the MP’s office and the District Assembly to resolve the challenges posed by waterlogged sections along the roads.
‘Measures are being explored to mitigate flooding and improve road durability, with the potential for tarring in subsequent phases. Dr Kwainoe is laying the groundwork for true transformation,” the DCE remarked. “His technical foresight and insistence on accountability are giving real hope to the people of Ekumfi.”
Community members in the inspected areas welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm, expressing their appreciation for what they described as unprecedented leadership engagement.
Many noted that they feel seen and heard by their elected representatives for the first time in years.
The inspection team included assembly members and local opinion leaders, whose presence underscored a shared commitment to inclusive development.
