The Ministry of Education has extended a warm welcome to about 590,000 first-year Senior High School (SHS) students reporting to their respective schools from Saturday, October 18, and Monday, October 20, 2025, to begin the 2025/2026 academic year.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the Minister for Education, Hashmin Mohammed, the Ministry described the moment as a major milestone in the students’ academic journey.
They urged the students to approach this next phase of their education with dedication, discipline, and enthusiasm.
The Ministry also commended parents and guardians for their patience and cooperation throughout the school placement exercise and announced that placement into schools and residential status for the new academic year has officially closed.
The statement further encouraged all parents and guardians to proceed to their assigned schools to complete enrollment processes and help their wards settle in smoothly for the commencement of academic work.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring quality, equitable, and inclusive education for all Ghanaian children and assured that measures have been put in place to guarantee a smooth start to the new school year across the country.
“We once again welcome our young learners to the senior high school family and wish them the very best in their academic and personal development,” the statement added.
