The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) says it is working closely with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to restore power supply to areas affected by severe flooding in the Greater Accra Region following a heavy rainstorm on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
The storm triggered widespread flooding and led to power outages in several communities. As a precautionary measure, NADMO directed ECG to temporarily isolate certain locations until floodwaters recede and safety conditions permit power restoration.
In a statement, ECG outlined the affected areas under isolation at NADMO’s request, which include:
Borteyman Stadium, Affordable Housing, Borteyman Township, Little Roses, Lakeside, Nanakrom, Kissieman, Dome Pillar 2, Christian Village, School Junction, School Junction Melcom, Nmaidzor Zoomlion, University Farms, Trasacco 3rd Gate, Legon Hill, Santoe, Blue Kiosk, Adenta ECG Office, and Madina Islamic University.
ECG emphasised that while restoring electricity remains a top priority, strict adherence to safety protocols and NADMO’s guidelines is essential to prevent further hazards.
“Restoration efforts are ongoing, but the safety of lives and property is paramount. Power will be restored to the affected communities as soon as it is safe to do so,” the statement assured.
The company also urged customers experiencing individual or localised outages, as well as cases of fallen poles or sagging lines, to report them immediately for swift intervention.
“Customers can contact the ECG Call Centre at 0302-611611, visit the nearest ECG office, or reach out via our social media handles @ECGghOfficial on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), or Instagram,” the statement added.
The collaboration between ECG and NADMO forms part of a coordinated emergency response to reduce the impact of the floods and ensure a safe and systematic return to normalcy in power supply across affected areas.
