Dr Toni Aubynn supports first-year SHS students in Wassa Damang

The Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation, Dr. Toni Aubynn, has once again demonstrated his commitment to empowering the youth of Prestea-Huni-Valley Municipality by donating essential items to ten first-year Senior High School students from the area.

On Sunday, September 21, Dr. Aubynn, who also serves as the Abakomahene of the Damang Wassa Division of the Wassa Fiase Traditional Area, presented key educational materials, including trunks, chop boxes, student mattresses, and GHC200 pocket money to each of the ten students who hail from Damang Wassa and its environs.

Mrs. Ruth Tachie Mensah, President of the Damang Chapter of Women’s Aglow, who made the presentation on behalf of Dr. Aubynn, stated that the donation reflects the high value Dr. Aubynn places on education and human resource development in the area.

Sharing his inspiring journey from Damang Primary to a prominent figure in Ghana’s mining, oil, gas, and business sectors, Mrs. Ruth Tachie Mensah encouraged the students to recognize education as the most effective tool for personal growth and wealth creation.

Mrs. Tachie Mensah urged the students to emulate Dr. Aubynn’s studiousness and discipline, qualities that have established him as a beacon of Ghanaian excellence and a leading figure in Africa’s mining industry.

She advised the first-year students to eschew laziness and indiscipline, remain dedicated to their studies, and strive for academic excellence, assuring them that Dr. Aubynn would continue to support students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance.

“Nana, (referring to Dr Aubynn), was born and raised in Damang, attended primary and secondary schools in Damang and Huni-Valley, respectively. Through hard work, discipline, and dedication, he has consistently risen to the top,” she said.

Mrs. Tachie Mensah highlighted Dr. Aubynn’s numerous contributions to enhancing human capital and overall development in the area. She mentioned the integral role of Dr Toni Aubynn in the creation of the Goldfields Ghana Foundation which has supported a significant number of students through its scholarship scheme as one of the most impactful projects masterminded by Dr Toni Aubynn during his time as Head, Corporate Affairs and Social Development-Goldfields Ghana Limited.

She also detailed how Dr Toni Aubynn has been consistent with his support for basic and senior high schools in the municipality, revealing that Dr Aubynn has, through the donations of computers, books and a piano, been a reliable source of support for his alma mater, Huni Valley SHS.

In response, the parents of the beneficiary students expressed gratitude for Dr. Aubynn’s timely support and prayed for his continued blessings. They pledged to ensure their children make effective use of the materials to achieve excellent academic results and become exemplary citizens like Dr. Aubynn.
