Dr Prince Mortoti: Living in harmony; unity in diversity

People make resolutions every new year. It is one thing to set goals and another thing to make sure those goals are achieved. Many people begin the first few months with zeal and determination but lack consistency as the months roll by. As a result, their goals are achieved haphazardly.

It is therefore a necessity for individuals who are the front line in their families to succeed this year by God’s grace and Allah. Article 41 of Ghana’s 1992 constitution shapes lives, changes the mindset of citizens and also lay down some principles for citizens to perform. By so doing, our lives are guided, individuals are able to achieve their goals and help in national development. If possible, tutors should elaborate the Article 41 to students so that when they complete and come out to face reality, they already know their duties as citizens.

Also, the various religious leaders should teach their congregation the Article 41 in churches, mosque and traditional homes. Our personal homes and workplaces are not exempted. These will help build the Ghana we want.

Article 41 of Ghana’s 1992 constitution outlines the fundamental duties and obligations of every Ghanaian citizen, emphasizing that right comes with responsibilities, including promoting national prestige to the constitution, fostering unity, contributing to community, working conscientiously, protecting public property, paying taxes, and safe guarding the environment. All essential for national building.

Ghana comprises of different religious bodies with different beliefs, different backgrounds, different ethnic groups and different political parties, but the constitution demands citizens to live in unity. It is therefore our responsibility to live in harmony with each and everyone. The Bible even stated it in Romans 12:18 that if possible, so far as it depends on you should live peacefully with all people.

When Power Arrests Law: The international legal stakes of Venezuela’s president

As a concerned citizen of Ghana. I urge all to put our differences aside, come together with love, skills, knowledge, strength and power endowed within ourselves to work together as one big nation. United we stand divided we fall.

Every hard work has a reward. If citizens perform their duty due diligence, they will become better people to the society and to the nation as a whole. Ghana will become a better country with massive improvement and development in all sectors. No one will even like to travel to settle in another country to work for a living, but rather stay and enjoy the good fortunes our motherland provides.

Together we can,

Long live Piwak,

God bless our homeland Ghana.
