Dr Noel Nutsugah, a lecturer and Head of the Department of Public Relations under the Faculty of Business and Strategic Communication (FoBSC) at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC), has been elected President of the UniMAC chapter of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).
In elections held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, Dr Nutsugah secured a decisive victory with 74 votes out of 79 valid ballots cast.
Other elected executives include Dr Isaac Osei as Vice President, Dr Mary Ayim-Segbefia as Secretary, Dr Stephen Tindi as Treasurer, Dr Beatrice Agyemang as Women’s Executive Officer, and Dr Joshua Doe as Institute Representative for UniMAC-IJ.
Commenting on his overwhelming endorsement, Dr Nutsugah said: “This is not a task I take lightly. I’m grateful to the union members for the confidence reposed in me, and I pledge my commitment to serving diligently in this role to safeguard and enhance the welfare of the University Teacher.”
UTAG exists to promote the welfare of university teachers by improving working conditions and facilities, fostering collaboration among members, strengthening communication channels within and outside the university community, and advancing teaching, research, and community service. The association operates a national secretariat with executive leadership, alongside branches in all public universities, including UniMAC.

About Dr Noel Nutsugah
Dr Nutsugah is a results-driven communication practitioner and academic with over nine years of teaching experience in public relations and journalism at UniMAC, as well as adjunct lecturing at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
He currently serves as Head of the Department for Public Relations at FoBSC and formerly held the role of Faculty Programmes Coordinator for the erstwhile Faculty of Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing (FOPAM).
An accredited member of IPR-Ghana, IAMCR, and CEAG, and a former member of IABC, Dr Nutsugah’s research focuses on brand communities, digital communication, and organisational reputation management. His work has been published in respected journals including Public Relations Review, Online Information Review, Annals of the International Communication Association, and the Journal of Public Relations Research.
He is passionate about bridging academia and industry to nurture the next generation of communication professionals in Africa.
