Don’t measure your success with likes and comments – Kobby Kyei to content creators

Ghanaian blogger and humanitarian, Kobby Kyei, has urged young content creators not to measure their success by the number of likes and comments they receive on social media.

In a recent interview on The Career Trail programme on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, he explained that digital impact goes beyond surface-level engagement.

“How many times have you seen something on social media that you really loved, but you just scrolled past without liking or commenting? It happens all the time,” he said.

“Hence, if I post about a donation I’ve done and I’m waiting for your comment to validate my work, then I won’t move forward,” he continued.

He therefore encouraged creators to look at deeper analytics instead.

“The insights tell you more. A post might show only a few likes, but it could have reached 20,000 or 50,000 people. Why should likes and comments be the yardstick for my success journey?”

According to him, many young bloggers become discouraged when they don’t get immediate engagement, arguing that it is the wrong mindset.

“The world is watching you. Don’t let your environment hold you back. Coming from a poor background doesn’t mean your back is on the ground. In this digital era, people from the US, Indonesia, and all over the world could be following you without your knowledge,” he emphasised.

For Kobby Kyei, success is about consistency, impact, and global reach, not just online reactions.
