Market women and shop owners along the Denu-Keta road in the Ketu South Municipality have raised concerns over persistent congestion around the Denu market, especially on market days. They say the situation causes minor accidents, disrupts traffic flow, and negatively affects sales.
The market’s proximity to the main road has led to activities spilling onto the highway, with drivers double-parking, loading passengers, and creating makeshift stations in front of shops. Traders have resorted to blocking entrances with trucks and tires to ward off drivers.

Shop owners, including Mr. Valentine Anani, Mr. Eric Demax, and Ms. Grace Norvixoxo, lamented that the congestion has created mistrust between traders, transport operators, and the Assembly. Ms. Norvixoxo even reported threats from a transport porter, accusing police and Assembly officials of inaction.
Torgbui Tsrabi II, Acting Divisional Chief of Denu-Xedzranawo, described the situation as alarming and proposed road diversions to ease traffic. He urged patience as authorities work toward a permanent solution.

Until government intervention, residents say the “Denu market congestion saga” will persist, leaving traders, drivers, and pedestrians struggling to “find their levels” on market days.
