Former Vice President Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has eulogised Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, describing him as an inspirational music figure.
A family statement revealed that Daddy Lumba passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness.
Dr Bawumia, in a social media post, eulogised Daddy Lumba as a music great whose music provided solace and joy to many Ghanaians.
“I have been informed of the demise of the legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, alias Daddy Lumba. Lumba didn’t only entertain but also inspired and uplifted many of us.
“His passing is indeed a huge blow to Ghana. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his wife, fans, and Ghana. Rest well, LEGEND,” said Dr Bawumia.
Scores of Ghanaian musicians, including Kofi Kinaata, Manifest, and Kweku Flick, have taken to social media to express their grief over the music legend’s death.
Daddy Lumba has had a long and successful musical career and is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest musicians.
