Cybastion launches American tech hub to boost digital transformation in Burkina Faso

Cybastion, a leading U.S. technology firm, has officially unveiled the American Tech Hub at the 20th annual Digital Week in Burkina Faso, aiming to accelerate the country’s digital transformation and strengthen local digital capabilities.

Speaking at the event, Armand Tchokokam, Cybastion’s Executive Vice President and co-founder, emphasised the importance of building sustainable digital foundations in Burkina Faso. “Our priority is to build solutions that remain in the hands of Burkinabè institutions, while ensuring a strong and measurable transfer of skills. Every project we lead aims to strengthen the country’s digital sovereignty and support economic growth driven by innovation,” he said.

The hub, an immersive exhibition space, showcases innovations from U.S. technology companies, including Entrust, Uptime Institute, Vertiv, and Credence ID, alongside local partner Open SI. It highlights the key pillars of Cybastion’s Digital Fast Track program—digital solutions, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and education—that align with Burkina Faso’s ambitions for digital sovereignty.

The event, held from November 18–21 under the theme “Artificial Intelligence at the Heart of Digital Transformation,” was attended by U.S. Ambassador to Burkina Faso Joann M. Lockard and Cybastion executives, who guided visitors through the exhibition zones.

Burkina Faso, a nation of 23 million people, is experiencing rapid digital growth, with more than 75% of its population under 35 years and mobile internet penetration reaching 82.14%, largely on 3G and 4G networks.

Addressing this youth-driven growth, Cybastion and its philanthropic arm, Theya Foundation, are partnering with the government and Cisco through the Africa DigiEmpower initiative to deliver a three-day digital skills training.

COO André Biyong said the program is designed to develop local talent for a sovereign digital economy. “We want to equip Burkina Faso with modern infrastructure and local capabilities that can support a sustainable digital transformation. Our ambition is to help the country achieve stronger digital sovereignty and create opportunities for an entirely new generation of talent,” he noted.

The American Tech Hub underscores a long-standing partnership between Cybastion and Burkina Faso, spanning over five years, in modernising the country’s digital ecosystem and equipping young people and women with skills in IT, AI, and cybersecurity to drive economic growth.
