CSA elects 2 Ghanaians to Vice Presidential positions for the first time

Ghana has secured a historic milestone in international student leadership as two of its nationals, Justice Alor and Princess Acolatse, have been elected Vice Presidents of the Commonwealth Students’ Association (CSA) for the first time.

The Association represents millions of students across 56 Commonwealth countries. It works to promote education, democratic participation, and student representation while offering young people a platform to shape policy and strengthen cooperation across regions.

The election, conducted virtually from September 11 to 12, 2025, saw 38 candidates contest nine of the ten available executive positions. The “Europe and Canada Representative” slot remains vacant and will be filled at a later CSA Congress.

Justice Alor was elected Vice President for Advocacy and Partnerships, while Princess Acolatse, a former student leader at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), won the slot for Vice President of Communications and Research.

They join Francis Azubuike, who was elected President, and Shaikh Rifad Mahmud, Vice President for Democracy and Participation, among other newly elected executives. In all, 38 candidates contested nine of the ten available positions, with the “Europe and Canada Representative” role left vacant to be filled at a subsequent CSA Congress.

Justice Alor has a rich background in student and youth leadership. He is a former Speaker of the University of Ghana Parliament House and twice served as Majority Leader of the same parliament. He is currently in his second term as Majority Leader of the National Youth Mock Parliament under the Parliamentary Network Africa and Parliament of Ghana.

He previously contested for the UGSRC Vice Presidency, served as CEO of the PENSA Legon Business and Political Chamber, and now heads the PENSA Ghana Political Chamber. Alor is also an alumnus of the West African Young Leaders Fellowship (WAYLead) by CDD-Ghana and the Open Society Foundation.

Beyond leadership, he is a former World Vision International Child Ambassador and was second runner-up in TV3’s 2015 The Pulpit reality show.
