The upstream oil and gas sector in Ghana contributed 3.7% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Ghana in 2020.

However, it recorded a growth rate of -4.6% (at constant 2013 prices).

According to the 2020 Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI), the total crude oil production in 2020 was 66.91 million barrels compared with the 2019 production of 71.4 million barrels.

This comprised of 30.42 million barrels from the Greater Jubilee Field, 17.80 million barrels from the Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme (TEN) Field and 18.68 million barrels from the Sankofa-Gye Nyame (SGN) Field.

Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) lifted on behalf of the State 11.8 million barrels.

The report covered the period January 2020 to December 2020, and was produced in accordance with the 2019 EITI Standard which sets out the minimum requirements that must be adhered to by countries implementing the EITI.

In 2020, Jubilee Field produced 30,424,539 barrels of oil, compared with a 2019 output of 31,915,377 barrels.

The report furthered that Jubilee Field continues to contribute nearly half the total national output, even though production reduced slightly by 4.7%.

In 2021, Jubilee Field contributed half (27,335,481 barrels) of the total output, even though production was reduced by 10% from the 2020 output (30,424,539 barrels).

The highest monthly production volume on the Jubilee Field was recorded in December 2021 and the lowest in February 2022.

The production rate increased in the second half of 2021 due to the addition of two production wells J56-P and J57-P and one water injection well, J55-WI.
