Cristiano Ronaldo, the all-time top scorer in UEFA Champions League history, received a special award from UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, recognizing his exceptional goal-scoring achievements in the competition.
Ronaldo, who made his Champions League debut with Manchester United nearly two decades ago, has netted 140 goals in 183 matches, a testament to his unwavering dedication and skill.
His prolific scoring includes contributions from his stints with Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, during which he secured five Champions League titles.
The Portuguese forward has appeared in six Champions League finals, winning five and finishing as a runner-up once.
Reflecting on his career, Ronaldo humbly expressed that his inaugural title remains the most memorable. “It’s challenging to pick one, but we always mention the first one.
The first one is the most special. I remember winning it with Manchester, scoring in the final, and although I missed a penalty, it was still a special moment,” he said.
In the 2008 final, Ronaldo scored a pivotal goal against Chelsea, which ended 1-1 after extra time.
Manchester United triumphed in the shootout despite missing a penalty, securing their third and most recent UEFA Champions League title.
