Craig Richards, ‘Worldwide’, the winners from Legacy Rise and Match Room’s historic boxing night in Accra

Legacy Rise Sports partnered Match Room to produce a historic night of boxing at the University of Ghana Stadium, Legon on Saturday, December 2025.

Although there were many brilliant performances, the fight of the night was a grudge match between two former sparring partners from South London, Daan Azee and Craig Richards.

In the end, Craig Richards secured a 12th-round knockout over Dan Azeez to take the vacant IBF International light heavyweight title.

It was a close fight between former sparring partners Richards (20-4-1, 13 KOs) and Azeez (22-3-1, 14 KOs) in the early rounds, but Richards ultimately prevailed.

Light heavyweight Jonathan Tetteh, popularly known as ‘Worldwide’ defeated Freezy Macbones (11-0, 10 KOs) via a points decision to extend his record to a handsome 11 wins and 10 knockouts.

The pair had previously contested for a sole Olympic slot in the Black Bombers (Ghana’s national boxing team), giving the bout an extra flavor. Early in the year, McBones famously declined to fight the boxer when urged by then GBA president Abraham Kotei Neequaye.

The tension was palpable, further escalated when McBones appeared to bite Tetteh in the fourth round.

Even though he recovered, he could not do enough to stop Tetteh’s victory.

The most entertaining fight came from the highly talented John Laryea and Holy Dorgbetor.

Laryea produced a mix of brawn and supreme technical ability to dispatch Dorgbetor in the 7th round to take the IBF Continental Africa featherweight title. Saturday’s victory takes Laryea’s record to an impressive 15 wins, 1 defeat and a draw.

Saturday’s victory means Laryea is now a two-time featherweight champion.

Theophilous Kpakpo Allotey secured the vacant WBO Global super flyweight title with a points decision against Jayr Raquinel (18-3-1, 14 KOs).

The judges scored the 12-rounder 119-109, 118-111, and 116-112 to hand Allotey his 13th professional win, 10 of which have been knockouts.

Meanwhile, Ibrahima Diallo is the new IBF International super welterweight title after securing a points decision win against Sampson Segbedzi (10-1, 7 KOs).

Two of the judges scored it 99-90, while the third scored it 98-91 as Diallo (13-0-2, 2 KOs) was crowned the champion.

In the only welterweight contest, India’s Nishant Dev (5-0, 3 KOs) stopped Ally Mbukwa (8-6, 2 KOs) in the fourth-round of their six rounder.

The night’s only four-rounder saw Leo Atang (3-0, 3 KOs) dispatch Babu Yusuf (3-1, 1 KO) in less than 90 seconds in a heavyweight contest.

Sedem Ama (5-0, 2 KOs) also secured a second-round win over Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nwaturuocha (3-1, 3 KOs).
