Mr Dan Botwe, the Minister of Regional Reorganisation and Development and Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of Education, have both been admitted at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), awaiting their second COVID-19 test results.

Mr Botwe is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Okere Constituency, while Dr Opoku Prempeh, is also the MP for the Manhyia South Constituency.

They were admitted after feeling unwell for a few days.
In a statement signed by Mr Botwe and copied to the Ghana News Agency, in Accra, he said: “I have undertaken several tests, including tests for COVID-19 and await results. I will endeavour to inform the general public about my results when I am informed of it.”

Dr Opoku Prempeh on the other hand, explained in a statement signed by Mr Rodney Nkrumah-Boateng, his Press Secretary, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, that he underwent various tests, including COVID-9 on June 16, 2020 after feeling unwell for a couple of days.

He tested negative for the virus, and that informed his decision to travel to his constituency for his acclamation on Saturday June 20, 2020.

Following his return to Accra, he still felt unwell, and decided to check himself in for further tests, including a second test for COVID-19.

“Although the results are not out, he has been detained at the UGMC as a precautionary measures for further observation, due to his condition,’ the statement said.

Ghana’s current confirmed cases of COVID-19 are 15,013, with 11,078 recoveries and 95 deaths.
The active cases, are, however 3,840.
