I have witnessed quite devastating leadership in this country called Ghana. It is so annoying after realising that the reason why majority of people are chasing political power is all about money. People are vying to become Presidents, Members of Parliament (MP), Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), among other positions, all in the name of money.

What next after having all the money? What legacy are you leaving behind when you are out of office? What one thing would you be remembered for? What was your mind-set before vying for the position?

Are you in office for the people or against the people? Are you in office for your family or for the sake of those who elected you? How many are you raising after you? What would the next generation have to say about you? What would Heaven say regarding your leadership?

We are living in a country where the only legacy manypoliticians seek to leave behind, is amassing wealth at the expense of the people who queue on the hot sun to vote them in power.

I took a deep reflection on my life recently when I celebrated my 26th birthday. I tapped into how I have been able to influence others with little or no money, indirectly or directly. The messages I received on the day really wowed me. I had countless messages I could not even reply till the next day. Numerous gifts have I received from my mentees. All to the glory of God.

For better clarification, I felt as a human being for once. I felt like a fulfilled person even at 26. I felt as though I have reached my peak. But then, I said to myself, “this is just the beginning.” I realised that the core mandate of leadership is to put smile on the face of those you are leading.

Also, I resulted that to lead is to have a positive influence. To lead is to live a footprint in the hearts of men. Leadership is all about helping those who are very good to become excellent and helping those who are very bad become very good; treating everyone equally.

With my little leadership offices as a church youth leader, church secretary, schools’ campus coordinator, a mentor, and many more I cannot list, I have been able to impact a lot without thinking of any returns. I am proud of what God has done through my life for others.

By God’s grace, I have seen lives tremendously transformed. As a school campus coordinator, all the students I have raised as leaders have become prefects of their institutions with a vast influence on campus development.

Furthermore, God has done a lot in the lives of all the youth I had encounters with. So, it was not a surprise to me receiving those messages on the date of my birth. Just that, I was overwhelmed.

Only if political leaders can go to the extent of impacting lives rather than draining lives, Ghana would be a lovely place to live.

What I have come to learn is that, God intentionally place some of us at an advantage side to assist others to reach the ultimate that God have destined for them. When you have the chance or the opportunity to lead, you must lead with wisdom, the right mind-set, and a good heart.

I resulted last year that, God has place me in a position where I can put smile on the less privileged, heal wounds, impact and transformed lives for the purpose of the Kingdom of Heaven. The ultimate goal is to go about the business of my father in Heaven.

Let one thing be clear to anyone in a position, that you are there because God wants you to be there. God expects you to take the opportunity to influence and impact lives for the sake of the Kingdom.

On the other hand, I have observed a certain trend on how some people are running into the political space. They are either there to accumulate worth for themselves and their household, or support a political party to attain the party’s aim. Hmm!

What hurts the most is the acclaimed Christians who find themselves in the political arena and have joined the trend of doing evil. Things have to change.

In furtherance, some politicians only think about what to do to help their political parties to win political power and spend the taxer payers’ money, the only reason their manifestos are trimmed down to four year terms. Any politician who have the country’s interest at heart will give an outstanding reputation of their manifesto expanding to like 10 years.

I stated this in one of my articles last year before the elections that, “as we approach Election 2024, my little advice to all the presidential candidates, especially, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and John Dramani Mahama is that, telling lies of what you have not done and what you cannot do is a hall mark of a leader who has failed on arrival.”

Fortunately enough, I am satisfied so far with the way His Excellency John Dramani Mahama is walking the talk. He is proving the worth of a good leader and what I call good leadership. He is setting the pace and I hope he continues and keep to his promises.

I want to finally remind all appointees, civil workers, and Members of Parliament not to forget that they are in positions because God destined them to be there; not just for themselves but for the betterment of the whole nation. With the right attitude and mind-set, we will all put the country first.
