Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo participated in Rome, in the Joint Celebration of Ghana’s 69th Independence Day, organized by the Ghanaian Embassies in the Italian Republic and the Holy See, on the theme “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.”
The event opened with remarks by H.E. Mona Helen Kabuki Quartey, Ambassador of Ghana to Italy, and H.E. Ben Assorow, Ambassador of Ghana to the Holy See, along with Federico Bernardi, Deputy Head of the Office for Central and West Africa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The celebration was not only a moment of celebration and conviviality, but also an important opportunity to discuss how to further strengthen and structure economic and trade relations between Italy and Ghana, enhancing dialogue, mutual understanding, and human relationships as the basis for solid and lasting partnerships.
The day continued with a session dedicated to business development between the two countries, featuring testimonials from several Ghanaian companies presenting their activities and projects in the digital, healthcare, and agribusiness sectors. Fabrizio Lobasso, Deputy Director General for the Promotion of the Country System at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, also spoke on this panel. He emphasized how culture, mutual understanding, and institutional collaboration are key elements in fostering business opportunities. He also emphasized the role of the Italian system, within the framework of the Mattei Plan, in strengthening economic relations between Italy and Ghana.
Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo’s Marketing and Communications Department spoke on behalf of Flavio Rossano, highlighting how Italian companies can play an important role in Ghana’s development, particularly in increasing competitiveness and strengthening the manufacturing sector, in line with the national development strategy. Several member companies are already present in the country in key sectors—from energy to logistics, from construction materials and machinery to pharmaceutical technologies, from industrial refrigeration to vocational training.
Alessandro Cugno, Head of the Trade Training Office at ITA – Italian Trade Agency, finally presented the activities of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Lab Innova for Africa program, a technical and managerial training initiative for Ghanaian companies in the agri-food and ICT sectors, aimed at fostering innovation, skills, and new opportunities for collaboration with the Italian business community.
