The Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana (CFA) has expressed its deep disappointment over the exclusion of farmers from key state functions, a trend they claim has persisted under both the previous and current administrations.

In a statement issued on Thursday, February 27, the association criticised the recent State of the Nation Address, which they believe failed to recognise the vital contributions of farmers to the nation’s economy and food security.

According to the association, this continued neglect reflects a broader issue of how the government overlooks the agricultural sector, which plays a crucial role in the country’s social and economic fabric.

“We are an integral part of Ghana’s development, yet our voices remain unheard in important national discussions,” said a representative of the Concerned Farmers Association. “It is disheartening that, despite our efforts in feeding the nation and contributing to its growth, farmers continue to be excluded from significant state events and decision-making processes.”

The association highlighted the critical role of farmers in ensuring food security and supporting the agricultural industry, urging the government to give greater recognition and inclusion in national dialogues.

The association expressed concern that such exclusion sends a negative message to the agricultural community, particularly as the sector faces numerous challenges, including climate change, market access, and inadequate government support.
