Christians usher in 2026 with prayers, declarations and renewed hope

Ghanaians across the country ushered in the New Year with crossover services marked by prayers, thanksgiving, reflection and prophetic declarations, as congregants gathered in churches to commit 2026 into God’s hands.

As the final moments of 2025 ticked away, sanctuaries were filled with praises, repentance and words of hope, with many believers expressing confidence that the New Year would bring direction, restoration and breakthroughs.

At the House of Miracle Ministries, the Head Pastor, Prophet Samson Amoateng, led the congregation into the New Year with a candlelight declaration.

He unveiled the church’s theme for 2026 as “Divine Speed and Testimonies,” praying for God’s blessings and acceleration in the lives of members. “May God give you the blessing of speed,” he declared.

Meanwhile, members of the Trinity Baptist Church near UPSA entered the year with a strong focus on divine presence. The Head Pastor, Rev. Kingsley Appiagyei, explained that the church’s prayer for 2026 is for God’s presence to remain with the nation and its people.

“Our prayer is that the presence of the Lord will go with us, that the hand of the Lord will be strong over our nation and over the people of Ghana, and that in 2026 we will break boundaries and fulfil our dreams,” he told Joy News.

At the Agape House New Testament Church, Reverend Whitcomb reminded worshippers of God’s promises, encouraging them not to allow past failures to define their future.

“No matter who you are, no matter where you come from, no matter what happened in 2025, even if you failed, God has a destiny for you in 2026. That is the promise of God’s word,” he told the congregation.
For many worshippers, the crossover service represented both a moment of closure and a fresh beginning.

Some congregants shared their hopes, prayers and expectations for the New Year with Joy News.
“I’m trusting God to show Himself faithful in 2026. I will let God do His own thing in my life,” one worshipper said.

Another expressed optimism about the year ahead, saying, “I want to have a good year and achieve all my goals, dreams and aspirations. I’m expecting God to elevate me and grant me success in every sphere of my life.”

From heartfelt prayers to joyful celebrations, crossover services across the capital reinforced a shared belief that with faith, unity and purpose, the New Year holds renewed possibilities.
