The Chirano Gold Mines Limited, a subsidiary of Asante Gold Corporation, has commissioned an ultra-modern Kindergarten (KG) block for Paboase and Aboduabo communities in the Wiawso and Bibiani Anwhiaso Bekwai municipalities of the Western North Region.
The project, which comes with auxiliary facilities, was funded by the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation.
Speaking at the commissioning of the project, Mr Stephen Asante Yamoah, General Manager of the Company, said the gesture signified the beginning of a new chapter where early childhood development started to shape the leaders of tomorrow.
According to him, the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation was dedicated and committed to promoting education, community well-being and social progress.
The General Manager noted that the two projects which were constructed at a cost of GHC482,000 each, were part of a larger effort to empower communities within their catchment area.
“It is our fervent hope that some of these little ones raised in these KG blocks will in the future, benefit from our scholarship scheme to further their education at the tertiary level,” Mr. Yamoah stated.
He lauded the collaborative effort of all major stakeholders for the completion of the school blocks, especially the traditional authorities and people of the two communities.
Mr. Yamoah further urged the school management team and community leaders to take good care of the projects to last long for generations to come.
Mr. Dindiok Chialin, Board Chairman, Chirano Sefwiman Foundation, said the Foundation believed that investing in children’s education meant that “we are investing in the collective future of our communities.”
“The Chirano Sefwiman Foundation will continue to extend educational opportunities so that we can nurture the dreams of the children and create opportunities that will benefit future generations,” he added.
The Board Chairman encouraged parents, teachers and community leaders to take active roles in the education of the children, so they became useful to society.
Nana Frimpong Mason, the Chief of Paboase, on behalf of the two communities commended the company for their continuous support in it catchment area, saying, “We will continue to be grateful for bringing developmental projects to the doorsteps of our people.”
