The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has formally cautioned the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, following a recent gifting incident.
with the Presidency declaring the matter resolved after his apology.
The decision was announced by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, during a press briefing on Wednesday.
“So in view of that, the Presidency does not believe that any further actions ought to be taken beyond the apology and the caution,” Mr Kwakye Ofosu stated.
“He emphasized the need to consider public sentiment and act in accordance with expectations. This caution reiterates the President’s directive to all appointees to exercise discretion in their conduct.”
The Minister explained that while certain behaviors might be acceptable in private life, public officials must uphold higher standards. “We must be sensitive to what Ghanaians expect from us,” he added.
The Presidency has determined no further disciplinary action is necessary beyond the issued warning.
“We take this as a learning opportunity and remain committed to meeting the high governance standards Ghanaians deserve,” Ofosu said, acknowledging past governance challenges.
Gyamfi, who recently assumed the acting CEO role, has pledged to align his actions with public expectations moving forward.
The Gold Board continues to enforce reforms under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).
