Chemsolv Limited, a Ghanaian company and a leading supplier of chemicals and related services to the oil, gas, and energy sectors across Sub-Saharan Africa, has officially commissioned a state-of-the-art science laboratory for Prince of Peace Girls’ Senior High School in Kumasi.

The newly refurbished lab, delivered as part of Chemsolv’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, reflects the company’s commitment to education, youth empowerment, and community development. The six-month project involved a complete transformation of the school’s outdated science facility, equipping it with cutting-edge tools, enhanced infrastructure, and modern safety systems to support effective teaching and hands-on learning in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Boahemaa Ohene-Agyei, External Affairs Lead at Chemsolv, highlighted the motivation behind the project:

“As a company rooted in science and mathematics, this project aligns with our core values. We believe that empowering young girls through education—especially in STEM—is a step toward a brighter, more inclusive future. This lab represents more than just a facility; it’s a seed of opportunity and transformation.”

To further promote academic excellence, Chemsolv announced an annual cash prize of GHS 3,000 for the top-performing students in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Physics. The initiative aims to inspire students to reach higher and foster a strong interest in science-related fields.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Mrs. Mary Juliet Antwi Kyeremeh, Headmistress of the school, and Mr. David Oppong, Metro Director of Education for the Ashanti Region. Students and staff expressed joy and gratitude as they toured the upgraded facility, excited about the opportunities it brings.

Mrs. Antwi Kyeremeh praised Chemsolv for its timely and impactful intervention, noting the long-term benefits for science education at the school. Mr. Oppong commended the initiative and urged other corporate bodies to support similar educational projects across the country.

Leading the Chemsolv delegation were Managing Director Kakra Osei-Barnieh, General Manager Panyin Osei-Barnieh, and External Affairs Lead Boahemaa Ohene-Agyei, all of whom engaged with the school community during the event.

This project adds to Chemsolv’s growing list of community development initiatives and reinforces the company’s dedication to responsible corporate citizenship. By investing in education, Chemsolv is helping shape a future where every young Ghanaian—especially girls—has the tools and inspiration to thrive in the world of science and beyond.
