Bishop Dr. Charles Cofie Hackman on Saturday, received a Doctor of Letters Honours at the American Heritage University of Southern California (AHUSC), USA, in recognition of his sterling disability advocacy for more than a decade.

Bishop Dr. Hackman, also known as the Voice of Ability on Air for Persons with Disability (PWDs), through the H4P (Here for Perfection) Organization has committed to the cause of eradicating the discrimination and stigmatization of the vulnerable, especially PWDs, in society.

Through several impactful projects and events, Bishop Hackman has demonstrated a strong commitment and exemplary leadership in promoting global human rights. Notable of H4P’s projects is the Helping Hand TV Show – the first ever TV programme solely dedicated to disability-related issues, sharing success stories of PWDs and breaking the barriers associated with disability.

The recognition of these life-transforming projects have traversed the shores of Ghana as Bishop Dr. Charles Cofie Hackman was conferred the honorary degree in a private and solemn ceremony at the American Heritage University of Southern California (AHUSC), a global institution promoting cross-border online and in person education in a web-based environment.

Bishop Hackman was appreciative of the honour conferred on him and dedicated the award to his late mother, Christina Anansiwa Hackman. Mrs Christina Anansiwa Hackman was known and revered for her passion, interest and impact on the welfare of others, especially that of the disability community in Ghana. She played a key role in the birthing, planning and executing of H4P projects.

The Doctor of letters award (D.Litt., Litt.D.) is the highest-level college degree that can be achieved and awarded in an academic discipline or professional field.  It is widely conferred honoris causa to recognize one’s lifetime of excellence in a particular humanistic, cultural, or artistic field, or other notable contributions to society.
