Mrs Latifa Adekanla, the Chief Executive Officer of Hair & Beauty by Lola, one of Accra’s most sought-after hair and beauty salons, has been recognised as a ‘Top specialist in Natural hair treatment and care’ at the 4th edition of the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Awards.
The event, held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on Thursday, July 3, was organised by The Business Executive (TBE) Communications Group on the theme “Together for a safer, healthier and sustainable future.”
This edition of the awards scheme had the primary objective of identifying a pool of enterprises/institutions in Ghana which are outstanding with regards to their commitment to product quality, to the health and safety of their employees, visitors and business affiliates along the supply chain; and to the sustainability of the environments in which they operate.
The Lola Hair & Beauty College also runs a training programme to provide Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in cosmetology and hair styling to young people.
Located at West Legon next to Babynest School and close to Medife in Accra, Hair and Beauty by Lola, experts in Locs, is a holistic salon whose services go beyond Locs, natural hair care and treatment, and braids.
The award-winning salon also deals in wigs, loc extensions, and offers spa services and other salon services comprising wigs, weavon, makeup, spa services and others.
In a bid to provide opportunities for young people in the Greater Accra Region and beyond, Rev. Minister Latifa Adekanla, the founder of Lola Hair and Beauty College, has also established the Lola Hope Foundation Ghana to empower young and vulnerable individuals.

The foundation aims to support those who wish to pursue Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) but lack the financial and other essential support required to achieve their aspirations.
Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Awards
The award winners of the 4th edition were selected by a multi-stage, credible and comprehensive selection process, using established selection criteria used by contracted, dedicated research consultants and ultimately a specially constituted Award Selection Jury of experts in QHSE activities, and underpinned by a quantitative points scoring model.
Nominations for awards were invited by the general public, while self-nominations were also accepted from enterprises that met the eligibility criteria.
Some of the primary sectors the awards focused on were manufacturing, financial services, commodities trading, commodities processing, agriculture, fisheries and livestock, agri-business, tourism, hospitality, media, entertainment and recreation, ICT, transport, haulage and warehousing, real estate development, and building & construction, among others.
