Nana Gyamfi Adwabour has announced his resignation as Executive Director of Centre For National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), effective March 3, 2025.

Since taking over in 2021, he turned CENDLOS into a powerhouse in Edtech and Distance Learning, both in Ghana and across Africa.

One of his major achievements was the successful launch of Channel MOE, the Ministry of Education’s official TV channel, on 2nd December 2024. The channel has become one of Ghana’s most-watched educational stations.

Additionally, Mr Adwabour played a role in the Ghana Smart School Project, providing every senior high school student with a tablet for digital learning.

Throughout his tenure, Nana Gyamfi Adwabour led high-profile collaborations with UNESCO, UNICEF, and the World Bank, overseeing projects such as the Technology-Enabled Open School Systems and the Ghana Learning Passport Project.

His efforts have significantly enhanced Ghana’s standing as an African hub for Education Technology.

Under his leadership, the CENDLOS team grew from just four employees to over 20. Staff members have described him as an altruistic, delegational, and empathetic leader.

He also worked with the World Bank to develop a comprehensive Edtech policy and trained over 75,000 teachers to integrate technology into education.

Nana Gyamfi Adwabour’s leadership and contributions to Edtech were further recognized when he won the Technology and Innovation CEO in July 2023 at Ghana CEOs Awards for his groundbreaking work at CENDLOS.

As an Edtech expert, Nana Adwabour played a pivotal role in harmonising the Edtech space, aligning various players, and steering them toward a unified strategic direction.

One of his key initiatives was the introduction of the National Distance and Digital Learning Policy, which now provides a framework for digital learning across the country.

Nana Gyamfi Adwabour expressed deep gratitude to former President Nana Akufo-Addo and former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum for their unwavering support during his tenure.

He also thanked various stakeholders of CENDLOS for their collaboration and commitment, which played a vital role in achieving these milestones.

Nana Gyamfi Adwabour conveyed his heartfelt thanks to his dedicated staff, whose support has been instrumental in driving CENDLOS’ success.

He wished the future Executive Director of CENDLOS continued success and reaffirmed his readiness to offer support whenever needed by the Ministry of Education or CENDLOS.
