The Council of Ewe Associations of North America has officially handed over a newly constructed library and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory to the Anloga community in the Volta Region.

The initiative forms part of the organization’s long-standing commitment to promoting quality education and improving literacy levels among Ewe communities across Eweland in the West African sub-region.

CEANA undertook the construction of the new facility after identifying the previous structure is dilapidated and unsafe for use. The Anloga Development Association of North America supported the project by providing ICT equipment for the laboratory.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, CEANA President, William Kumah, noted that the project aligns with the organization’s broader objective of contributing to human resource development within the Anloga community.

He emphasized that the facility is intended not only for students but also for the wider community, serving as a knowledge and resource center where both children and adults can read, research, and develop skills across various fields.

“Education is one of the core areas CEANA prioritizes. When we committed to this project, we aimed to create a conducive environment where future leaders can learn and grow. That is why we built this library,” he stated.

Mr. Kumah further reaffirmed CEANA’s commitment to implementing health, education, and social intervention projects based on the needs of identified communities.

The Anloga District Chief Inspector of Schools of the Ghana Education Service, Togbi Dada III, described the facility as a timely intervention that would significantly support teaching and learning activities in the area. He urged stakeholders to ensure its effective utilization, particularly at a time when academic performance in the community is reportedly declining.

The Dufia of Anloga, Togbi Zewu IV, commended both CEANA and ADANA for the initiative. He noted that the facility would help refocus students’ attention on education, even beyond regular school hours, thereby contributing to the long-term development of the community.

He also pledged his commitment to safeguarding the infrastructure to ensure it continues to benefit future generations.

“The future we aspire to achieve is attainable. Knowledge gained through reading drives national development, and with this facility, Anloga is on a promising path,” he added.

The Keta Municipal Librarian, Dela Odamson, expressed appreciation for the collaboration, highlighting the role the new facility will play in helping the library authority expand access to educational resources.

He indicated that structured programs such as literacy development initiatives, digital skills training, and community engagement activities would be introduced to maximize the use of the facility.
