CAF Confederation Cup: Karim Zito explains tactical masterplan in Kotoko’s win over Kwara Utd

Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has outlined the tactical adjustments that secured his side’s qualification to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kwara United at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium on Sunday, sealing a 5-3 aggregate triumph after their thrilling 4-3 win in Accra.

Speaking to the media after the game, Zito revealed that Kotoko had learned valuable lessons from the first leg.

‘’A lot changed because in our football industry we have occupational hazard and that is what happened to us in Ghana, Zito said.’’

‘’We didn’t repeat it here, we revisited the first leg, and we saw the space and time we gave them, and we worked on that.

“We knew they had experienced players. We knew when we denied them the space and time, they can’t play us. So, we must do that and search for the goal in the second half.”

The Porcupine Warriors will now turn their attention to a tough second-round encounter against Moroccan heavyweights Wydad in October.
