Dr. Bryan Acheampong

A key aide to Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Pius Enam Hadzide, has responded to the recent Global Info Analytics poll, which places former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia significantly ahead in the contest to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the upcoming 2028 general elections.

The poll, released on August 21, revealed that Dr. Bawumia enjoys a substantial 52% support among NPP delegates, with Kennedy Agyapong trailing at 17% and Dr. Bryan Acheampong at a mere 3%.

Conducted between August 12 and 20, the poll surveyed 2,656 NPP delegates nationwide, providing a snapshot of the current political landscape.

However, in an interview with Citi Eyewitness News on August 22, Hadzide cast doubt on the reliability of such political polls, describing them as potential “psychological operations” orchestrated by rivals to manipulate public perception.

“I don’t know about it, but many of these researches are a psychological operation sometimes sponsored by politicians who seek to deceive unsuspecting audiences and to create a misleading impression,” he asserted, questioning the motives behind the poll and its findings.

Despite his scepticism, Hadzide stressed that the Bryan Acheampong campaign values all feedback, including polling data.

“Our attitude at the Bryan Acheampong campaign is that all research, wherever they are coming from, we take it as feedback… and if there are any gaps, we work on those,” he explained, underscoring the campaign’s commitment to continuous improvement.

Hadzide also expressed confidence in Dr. Acheampong’s potential, noting that this is his first bid for the NPP flagbearer position and that he entered the race later than his competitors. “We are very confident that Dr. Bryan Acheampong is not only the fastest growing contender in this race—published research has also confirmed this,” he insisted.

Political analysts suggest that the dynamics within the NPP are evolving as the 2028 elections approach, with the latest poll serving as a crucial indicator of delegate sentiments.

The survey results highlight a significant gap between Bawumia and his closest competitor, prompting discussions about the effectiveness of campaigning strategies among other candidates.

As the race intensifies, the NPP faces a critical moment in its leadership selection process.

With Dr. Bawumia currently leading, the pressure is mounting on his opponents to refine their strategies and resonate more effectively with party delegates.

As the political landscape continues to shift, observers are keenly awaiting how the upcoming months will shape the narrative leading up to the NPP’s flagbearer decision.

The implications of these findings could play a pivotal role in determining the party’s direction and its chances in the general elections.
