The Bono Regional Police Command has dismissed claims circulating in a viral video alleging a robbery on the Berekum–Drobo Road on November 18.
According to the Command, preliminary investigations have confirmed that no such incident occurred and no report of a robbery has been filed.
The video, which has attracted significant attention online, suggested that armed men attacked travellers on the stretch. However, checks conducted across police stations within the Bono Region and nationwide, as well as inquiries made to the Ghana Armed Forces, found no evidence to support the claim.
“The preliminary checks, both locally and nationally, have shown that there have been no reports of a robbery in the area on the specified date,” a statement from the Bono Regional Police Command said.
In a statement issued on November 20, the police urged members of the public with credible information regarding the alleged incident to report to the nearest police station, emphasising that accurate information is essential for effective investigations.

The Ghana Police Service’s Cyber Crime Unit is currently working to trace the individuals behind the publication of the video. Authorities have warned that anyone found to be spreading false information will face legal consequences.
“We urge the public to be cautious when sharing information online. The publication of false news can cause undue panic and disrupt public order,” the statement added.
