The Bono Regional Police Command is investigating the tragic murder of a private security man at Abesim in the Sunyani Municipality.
The deceased, Akwasi Addai, believed to be in his 60s, was allegedly murdered by some armed robbers who attacked a filling station in the town.
A statement issued and signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Bono Regional Police Public Relations Officer and made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, said the incident happened on Tuesday, October 6, at the Abesim Frimps Filling station.
The Police found the deceased’s lifeless body on a porch near a shop at the pump with visible head injuries.
It said preliminary investigations revealed that the armed robbers stormed the filling station, broke into one of the offices used as electricity power credit sales and a mobile money transaction point and made away with undisclosed sums of money.
The robbers also ransacked the office of the manager of the pump and attempted to force-open a safe, the statement indicated, saying a crime scene management team visited the location and retrieved an axe and a club, stained with blood.
It said the body of the deceased had since been deposited at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy, saying the Police had intensified efforts to apprehend and bring the perpetrators to book.
