Bono Police Command Engages Sampa’s Christian Community

Following a crucial engagement with the Muslim community, the Bono Regional Police Command extended its peace initiative to Christian faith-based churches in Sampa over the weekend, underscoring the regional administration’s commitment to restoring lasting stability.

The campaign, led by Deputy Regional Commander ACP Mr. Andrews George Kumah and operational personnel, saw the police delegation visit numerous churches on Saturday, October 18, and Sunday, October 19, 2025, advising worshippers on the critical need to embrace peace and reject violence.

Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer, Bono Regional Police Command, highlighted the importance of the initiative in a press release on Monday, October 20.

ACP Kumah’s core message centred on restoring the necessary conditions for community life and commerce to flourish following recent unrest.

He emphasised that police actions are targeted at enabling normalcy.

The Command urged the congregations to maintain peace and order in Sampa and ensure schools, banks, businesses, market vendors, and everyone conduct their daily activities without fear, thereby promoting economic growth in the area.

To enhance community safety and intelligence gathering, the Deputy Commander called on church members to re-evaluate their perception of law enforcement.

He also advised the members not to see Police officers as their enemies but rather to come closer to them with credible information.

The police visit served as a platform to issue a stern warning, particularly aimed at young people, regarding actions that could destabilise the hard-won peace.

They were advised to warn their children that anyone seen with a weapon would be arrested.

In an era of rampant digital speculation, the Command also tackled the issue of misinformation, which often fuels panic and unrest in conflict zones.

But they were advised to disregard any false information from social media platforms.

To ensure maximum reach within the Christian community, the delegation urged church leaders and congregants to disseminate the message widely:

He further advised them to share the message with their followers who weren’t able to attend the church service.

The leaders and members of all the churches visited expressed profound gratitude for the Police Command’s consistent efforts to stabilise Sampa.

They lauded the initiative, which they believe is essential for healing and recovery.

To solidify the security gains, the churches collectively requested sustained interaction from the Command.

All the churches visited expressed gratitude to the Police for the engagement and requested continued interaction until peace and order are restored in the community.

This weekend outreach, combined with the engagement with the Muslim community on Friday, reflects a comprehensive strategy by the Bono Regional Police Command to build broad-based support for peace and security across the diverse religious landscape of Sampa.
