BoG fully committed to financial inclusion and sustenance of confidence in financial ecosystem - Second Deputy Governor

TheSecond Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Matilda Asante-Aseidu, has expressed the Central Bank’s commitment to driving the financial inclusion agenda to ensure that no one is left out.

According to her, the Bank of Ghana is enforcing its regulations through moral suasion to ensure that there are equal opportunities for all in accessing financial services in the country.

Matila Asante-Asiedu said this when the women’s wing of the Ghana Fintech and Payment Association paid a courtesy call at the Bank Square to congratulate her on her appointment as the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana.

Mrs. Asante Asaidu said the Central Bank is also working with all its partners to ensure that the current confidence in the financial ecosystem is strongly maintained.

“This is what we are doing to help grow financial institutions in that space as well as help in promoting financial intermediation and credit growth in the country, “she added.

The Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana also expressed the Central Bank’s commitment to affirmative action in finance for women, including collaborations with regulated financial institutions to ensure women are given value, opportunities, and support to thrive in the financial sector.

“The Bank of Ghana remains dedicated to creating an inclusive financial ecosystem that brings more women on board and drives equal participation in the industry,” she emphasised

She pointed out that a lot is also being done by the regulator to promote affirmative action for women in the financial technology space in the country.

In the area of cyber security and fraud detection, the second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana highlighted the work that has been done by the Bank of Ghana together with its partners to deal with concerns coming from depositors as well as the commercial banks.

“This is because we believe that a strong cybersecurity system goes a long way to aid  confidence in the banking and financial space,” she added.
