Blackmore LLC announces cultural-driven whisky collaboration inspired by the Asante Kingdom

Blackmore LLC has announced a new whisky collaboration that draws inspiration from the heritage and symbolism of the Asante Kingdom.

The company is developing an ultra-limited Irish whisky release in partnership with the Irish Whisky Fund and master distiller Darryl McNally, known for his work at Bushmills, The Dublin Liberties Distillery, Limavady and his new distillery project in County Derry.

The release, titled The Asante Royal Reserve, is being positioned as a collector-focused expression that blends Irish distilling tradition with cultural elements rooted in Asante identity.

Early development concepts include Adinkra-inspired design features and individually numbered single cask bottles, although Blackmore says the final presentation and liquid composition are still being refined.

A spokesperson for Blackmore said the collaboration is built on shared values of craftsmanship, heritage, and narrative depth.

They noted that both Irish whisky tradition and Asante history carry long-standing artistry and cultural significance.

The company stressed that the involvement of the Asante court will go beyond symbolic endorsement, with representatives expected to guide cultural accuracy and ensure authentic representation throughout the project.

As part of the initiative, Blackmore is introducing the Royal Cask Council, an exclusive group that will bring collectors, investors, and cultural custodians together in Kumasi and Ireland.

Members will have access to curated tastings, developmental insights, and cultural exchange experiences tied to the whisky programme.

The company says the initiative aligns with a growing trend across Africa where luxury buyers, collectors, and high-net-worth individuals are seeking items that merge value, heritage, and identity rather than purely commercial luxury products.

Blackmore described the release as an example of how cultural storytelling can sit alongside premium spirits without diluting authenticity.

While the first edition of The Asante Royal Reserve will be extremely limited, Blackmore has hinted that the collaboration could evolve into a series depending on market interest and cultural fit.

The company confirmed that Kumasi will serve as a key location for tastings, ceremonies, and launch-related gatherings.

The partnership also aims to position African royalty and cultural heritage in a contemporary global context.

According to Blackmore, the goal is to present tradition in a way that feels elevated and relevant while respecting the lineage it draws from.

Further information, including release quantities and timelines, will be announced at the maiden Distiller’s Table event in Accra.
