Ghanaian live music group BigShot Band GH has called on the public to show more love and support for local performers, stressing that a thriving music culture depends on both the dedication of artistes and the appreciation of their audience.
Speaking on the EVIBES Musical Band Series with Becky on JoyNews, members of the band highlighted the effort musicians put into their craft and urged their colleagues to treat music as a serious business. They said artistes must pay closer attention to marketing and public engagement.
“I would say that as performers and musicians, we are trying, but there’s always room for improvement,” a band member said. “We can try harder, take the business part of our craft a little more seriously, and look at the marketing side, the publicising side… you have to get people to put you out there.”
They also encouraged Ghanaian music lovers to prioritise homegrown acts over foreign performers, noting that local musicians are working hard to raise the standard.
“As we are trying, we are also encouraging our people to patronise what we do, rather than patronising those from outside too much. I mean, but we are trying our best. They should also show some love and interest in what we do a little more,” the group added.
BigShot Band GH, known for their lively highlife and Afro-fusion performances, continues to tour across Ghana and collaborate with other artists. They remain committed to promoting Ghanaian music on both local and international platforms.
