A three-year-old boy, Christopher Amponsah, has died following a swarm of bee attacks that also left ten others injured at Wawaase, a suburb of Agona Swedru in the Agona West Municipality of the Central Region.

Six of the injured victims are currently receiving treatment at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital, while four others have been treated and discharged.

Speaking to Adom News, the Deputy Director in charge of Technical at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Agona West Municipality, Paul K. Appleh, disclosed that the incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on Friday when the bees descended on residents in the area.

According to him, while many residents managed to flee for safety, the young boy was unable to escape the attack.

Mr Appleh noted that personnel from NAD9MO and the Ghana National Fire Service were swiftly deployed to the scene to bring the situation under control.

He added that the child later died at the hospital while receiving treatment.

Mr Appleh further indicated that the bees have since been sprayed to prevent any further attacks, assuring that all injured victims are responding to treatment.
