Former Vice President and 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed gratitude for the continued support he is receiving from party members as he campaigns to become the NPP flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Dr Bawumia took to social media to thank delegates across multiple constituencies for their endorsements, which he said have strengthened his confidence in the party’s grassroots backing.
“The endorsements I continue to receive across constituencies have only solidified my faith in the strong support of party faithful, confirming what I already knew – that we are in this together! Thank you Abuakwa North, New Juaben North and New Juaben South for the love you demonstrated yesterday,” he wrote on Facebook.
During a tour of New Juaben, the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Otchere Baafi, urged NPP members to unite behind Dr Bawumia, describing him as the most experienced and well-recognised candidate to lead the party to victory in 2028.
Addressing delegates in Koforidua, Otchere Baafi stressed the significance of the upcoming 31 January 2026 primary.
“I’m saying that the 31st January election is not a joke. It’s a crucial election and we need an experienced person. We need someone who has been well-marketed and is well known by Ghanaians. That person is Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,” the MP said.
He further recalled Dr Bawumia’s loyalty to the party during challenging periods, adding that the former Vice President remains the NPP’s strongest candidate for the national polls.
Otchere Baafi emphasised the role of grassroots mobilisation in achieving electoral success.
“Politics is local, so the responsibility lies with all of us at the polling station level. It is a collective responsibility. Let us come together, work diligently at the local level, and ensure the NPP reclaims power. The only person who can help us win decisively is the experienced and well-marketed Dr Bawumia,” he added.
