
Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed sorrow over the passing of Ernest Yaw Kumi, Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency.
In a Facebook post on Monday, July 7, Dr Bawumia described the late MP as a “loyal patriot” and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
“I have received with sadness the passing of Hon. Ernest Yaw Kumi, MP Akwatia Constituency. Ernest was a loyal patriot. My condolences to the immediate family. May his soul rest in peace,” Dr Bawumia wrote.
Mr Kumi, a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), passed away after a short illness. His sudden death has come as a shock to many, particularly as he was reported to have been active in Parliament just last week.
Tributes have continued to pour in from political colleagues and constituents, remembering him for his dedication, humility, and service to the people of Akwatia.
Parliament has since adjourned its sitting to Tuesday, 8th July 2025, in honour of the late MP.
