In a gesture to honor and motivate local agriculturists, Bawa-Rock Ltd has donated eight 43-inch television sets to the Obuasi East Municipal Assembly. The items will be used as prizes during the upcoming National Farmers’ Day Celebration, scheduled for 5th December 2025 at Kwabenakwa.
The donation was presented on behalf of the company by Eric Addae Boateng, Business Development and Sustainability Lead at Bawa-Rock Ltd. He reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting social and community development as an integral part of its operations. According to him, the gesture is also aimed at making agriculture more attractive, especially to the youth.
Receiving the items, Williams Kofi Adzowu, Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi East, expressed deep appreciation to Bawa-Rock Ltd. He noted that the support will enhance this year’s celebration and encouraged other organizations and stakeholders to also contribute to the event.
This year’s celebration aligns with the national theme for Ghana’s Farmers’ Day 2025: “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.” The theme underscores the country’s commitment to boosting local food production, promoting consumption of homegrown produce, and ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability.
During last year’s event, Ofori Thomas, a 61-year-old farmer from Diawuoso, was crowned the 2024 Municipal Best Farmer. His diverse cultivation portfolio included cassava, maize, cocoyam, oil palm, pepper, ginger, okra, tomatoes, yam, orange, plantain, cocoa, and onion. He received a variety of prizes including a television set, a motorized tricycle (Aboboyaa), machetes, Wellington boots, GTP wax print, a knapsack sprayer, Sunphosate, and other farm inputs.
Other award categories in previous celebrations included Best Youth Farmer, Best Woman Farmer, Best Oil Palm Farmer, and Best Vegetable Farmer. Winners received television sets, portable seed planters, certificates, and essential farming tools to support and expand their operations.
Bawa-Rock Ltd, owned by Alhaji Rasheed Bawa Namoro, is a gold trading and mining company based in Obuasi. Their support for this year’s Farmers’ Day reinforces their commitment to community growth and agricultural advancement.
