Bank of Africa promises continued support for Black Queens after watching win over Egypt

Financial institution, Bank of Africa, have promised continued support for the Black Queens following their qualification for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Staff from the Bank of Africa honoured the team’s invitation to come and watch them at the Accra Sports Stadium for the game against Egypt.

The invitation was sent to the institution after the Queens returned from their medal-winning performance at the 2024 WAFCON in Morocco, where they were appreciated by the bank.

Following their invitation, the staff came around for the game, which was played on Tuesday, October 28, cheering the team on to victory at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Black Queens picked up a 4-0 win at home to secure a 7-0 aggregate win over the Cleopatras and book a place at next year’s WAFCON tournament to be staged in Morocco.

“Remember when the Queens came to our office at the Bank of Africa, they invited us to come and watch this game in particular, and we have fulfilled this by coming to watch this game in our numbers to encourage them,” said the Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at the bank, Leila Pentsil.

“For Bank of Africa, supporting women is not just about financial inclusion. It’s also about the total well-being of our women, and we totally support our Black Queens. We are proud of them. It was a great win, impactful and a strong statement, and we can’t wait to go to Morocco with them.

Adding on the support to the team ahead of the tournament, Pentsil added, “We have already pledged our support to the Queens. We are ready to support them, and after this game, we are going to look at what we can do holistically to support them in their friendly match against England.”

The win over Egypt seals back-to-back qualification for the Queens at the continental tournament, and Kim Lars Bjorkegren’s side will also hope to secure Women’s World Cup qualification for 2027.
