Avoid pessimism and be grateful for national progress – Dr Wengam urges Ghanaians

The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Dr Stephen Wengam, has urged Ghanaians to avoid pessimism and focus on the nation’s achievements under President John Mahama over the past year.

Delivering a sermon during the National Thanksgiving Day at the presidency’s forecourt on Wednesday, Dr Wengam called on citizens to count the good things the country has accomplished and to show gratitude rather than complain.

“I know as humans, as we are, we easily complain more than we acknowledge what God has done. And if you read the Bible, the Bible says that because the Israelites murmured, they did not enter the promised land,” he said.

“And I want to call upon Ghanaians and leaders, let us look at what God has done. Many things God has done for us. We should not be pessimistic, we should be optimistic, and as we look at the positive side of life and what God has done for us, these blessings would be our portion,” he added.

Preaching from 1 Samuel 7:12, Dr Wengam said Ghana is following a path similar to Israel in the scripture, highlighting the country’s growth and resilience.
