The Paramount Chief of the Dodome Traditional Area in the Volta Region, Togbe Kpangbatriku IV, has cautioned young people against engaging in drug abuse, alcoholism, and other harmful habits, warning that such behaviours can destroy health and prospects.
He delivered the message during the grand durbar of the 2025 Agadzi Festival held on Saturday, November 8, in Dodome Awuiasu, urging the youth to use their strength and energy wisely.
“You (the youth) are the hope of our future,” he said. “I therefore advise that you learn to work hard, be honest, humble, and disciplined, and even the sky cannot limit your achievements.”
“Avoid habits that will destroy your health and your future, such as drug abuse, alcoholism, disrespect, and laziness,” he added.
The Paramount Chief encouraged the youth to pursue knowledge, acquire practical skills, and engage in volunteer work and community service. “Instead, strive to acquire knowledge, build skills, volunteer, and serve your communities progressively,” the young traditional leader said.
He said that building these qualities would not only improve individual lives but also contribute positively to the development of the Dodome Traditional Area and the nation at large.
Togbe Kpangbatriku IV also pledged the continued support of the Dodome Traditional Council for youth empowerment initiatives and skill development programmes, reiterating the council’s commitment to fostering a generation of responsible, skilled, and productive young people.
