Avance Media unveils first-ever top 100 Ghanaians powerlist for 2025

Leading African public relations and ratings firm, Avance Media, has unveiled the inaugural Top 100 Ghanaians Powerlist 2025, recognising individuals whose influence, leadership and authority significantly shaped Ghana’s political, economic, social and cultural landscape over the past year.

The annual Powerlist, presented across 10 carefully defined categories, cuts across all key sectors of national life, including governance, business leadership, civil society, media, sports, religion, traditional leadership, education, law and national security.

According to Avance Media, the list goes beyond titles to assess real influence, relevance and measurable impact.

Prominent figures featured on the 2025 list include heads of Ghana’s arms of government, notably President John Dramani Mahama, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, and Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

The Powerlist also highlights influential personalities across business, culture, media and civil society. Notable business leaders include Dr Daniel McKorley, Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong, and Patricia Obo-Nai.

The entertainment and sports sector features Diana Hamilton, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, and Mohammed Kudus, while the media space includes Manasseh Azure Awuni, Anita Erskine, and Kwadwo Sheldon.

Religious and traditional leadership is represented by figures such as Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Apostle Dr Eric Nyamekye, Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, and Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin.

The 2025 Powerlist also reflects strong female representation, with 28 Ghanaian women featured, including Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh, Gertrude Araba Torkornoo, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, and Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, underscoring women’s leadership across national and international spheres.

Speaking on the release, Prince Akpah, Founder and Managing Director of Avance Media, said the Powerlist is an editorial assessment of Ghana’s most influential personalities.

“It goes beyond positions and titles to examine influence, impact and relevance. The Powerlist is intended to provoke national reflection on leadership and accountability, while documenting how power is exercised across Ghana’s evolving society,” he stated.

Selection for the Powerlist was guided by five key criteria: influence; leadership and authority; measurable impact; relevance within the year under review; and public visibility and accountability.
